We are definitely more bourbon than Irish whiskey in our house.  I had a bad (self inflicted) experience with Dewar's at a wedding reception 15 years ago and haven't been back since....

I think everyone has a bad Dewar's experience and everyone's bad Scotch experience is from Dewar's.

In a shocking turn, it was my wife that got me into bourbon.  I resisted for a while, but I love it now.

This is going to be interesting. I’m cooking for my in-laws, but I’m on call so no drinking for me.

I get along with my in-laws quite well typically, but my mother in law has been known to have a bit too much wine and make questionable comments at holidays. I’m also on call on Christmas Day, but we’ll probably spend Christmas Eve with my in-laws.

Yup. Also it’s only really a thing in the States. It’s bad.

In Canada, our ubiquitous ‘well’ Scotch is Ballentine’s which is at least presentable as a quality built blend for its price point.

I am so with you on that. The blend is okay, the Single Malt is good but the Single Grain is the best.

Except the ice cube, I use granite rocks.

Just hit the store myself. It is incredibly difficult to find a good Port in bourbon country. I dislike bourbon. Have several bottles app roaching 7 years on my shelf.

Oooh, Celebration ale is one of my favorites. I always buy a good amount of it when it comes out, but I haven’t seen it yet! I’ll have to check again this weekend.

I usually get a 1/6 barrel for the kegerator as well , need to order that soon.
